EBay Confusion - Please Help!

So I put 2009 '48 Bowman Basketball on Ebay. Opened and listed on the day of release. I was fortunate enough to get 2 sets of the Blue Parallel cards. I figured I would put 1 up for auction and 1 up for buy it now / best offer. The BIN was at $95, which was similar to others listed. Well the auction ends last night (August 24th) for $34.00. So I looked at other completed listings and see that they have gone down from $90 to $65 to $60. So I change the BIN price to $50. Within 15 minutes the set is sold.

Why does the auction go for so much lower 15 minutes prior? Do buyers now want to wait around for the auction to end and are willing to spend $17 more to buy it now?

This is one of the times that really confuses me about EBay and selling sports cards. I really wish I could figure this out. Would make for better breaks. It seems sometimes it is better to auction and sometimes better for buy it now.

If anyone has any advice, I am always willing to listen.

Thanks

Future Baseball Card Case Breaks

I just opened a case of 48 Bowman Basketball. Some cards are already on EBay at http://shop.ebay.com/ez.collectibles/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=. I think that this product was a pretty good break. One box I opened had a Dwyane Wade, Derrick Rose, and O.J. Mayo autograph. Course, another box I opened had a Bargnani, Jarret Jack, and Danny Granger auto. That is why I stick to opening whole cases. Better chance at breaking even. The first box I opened, I got a Greg Oden autograph 1/1. That was it for my 9 year old son. He didn't need to sit around and see anything else. He figured we got the best card in the whole case in the first box.
